Greenway Plaza Walks Away with 2011 Heritage Award at ULI’s Development of Distinction Awards Banquet
Houston’s Urban Land Institute held its annual Development of Distinction awards banquet on Tuesday night, January 25 in the historic Crystal Ballroom of the old Rice Hotel in downtown Houston where Greenway Plaza was presented the 2011 Award of Excellence in the Heritage category representing projects with a 25-year or longer history of continuous excellence.
The ULI Awards of Excellence are widely recognized as the industry’s most prestigious award and are intended to honor the very best developments that uphold the Urban Land Institute mission by recognizing leadership, responsibility, and positive contributions to the community. In order to receive this coveted recognition, nominees must achieve the highest standards of innovation, sustainability, design, and performance in one of three categories which include: For-Profit, Not-for-Profit and Heritage.
Since 1979, Houston’s ULI has honored outstanding development projects in both the private and public sectors through a program which follows the criteria and judging standards of the Urban Land Institute’s national and international Awards of Excellence. Greenway Plaza was selected as a finalist by a team of local industry experts. Winners in each category were chosen by a panel of independent judges from various locations across the country.
Bob Carlen, vice president of property management for Greenway Plaza, accepted the award on behalf of Crescent and Greenway Plaza. Others in attendance included members of Greenway Plaza’s management and leasing teams, as well as Jason Anderson and Josh Pirtle from Crescent’s corporate office. Guests of Crescent/Greenway Plaza included Douglas Schnitzer, the son of the late Kenneth Schnitzer, Sr., the original developer of Greenway Plaza, Myron Blalock and Neil Tofsky.

The coveted International TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) award is the highest honor in the commercial office management industry and distinguishes Greenway Plaza as the best managed and operated office park in its class on an international level.

Excellence in Building Operations and Management
For the second year in a row, all Greenway Plaza buildings received BOMA International’s 360 Performance Building designation for Excellence in Operations and Management.

Greenway Plaza won BOMA's TOBY the Southwest Regions Office Building of the Year Award in the mid-rise suburban office park category. The Office Building of the Year (TOBY) Award is the most prestigious and comprehensive program of its kind in the commercial real estate industry recognizing excellence in building management, operational efficiency, tenant retention, emergency planning, “green” policies, and community impact.

EPA Energy Star Leader
The Environmental Protection Agency named Crescent Real Estate Holdings LLC an Energy Star 2009 Top Performer. Crescent is oly one of six commercial real estate companies in the U.S. and one of only two in Texas to be recognized by the EPA for improving energy efficiency more than 10 per cent.

In recognition of Greenway Plaza's outstanding efforts toward alternative transportation options and sustainable environmental contributions to the community through its partnership with H-GAC.

CEL "A" List Award
All 10 Greenway Plaza Buildings were presented the CEL:"A" List Award for Excellence in Customer Service. Two of the buildings received the Platinum A List Award. Each year CEL & Associates, Inc. compiles customer satisfaction survey data for thousands of properties. Since 1998, the A List Awards For Customer Service Excellence have been awarded in recognition of achieving a "Best In the Industry" rating for providing the highest level and quality of service.

Excellence in Operations and Management - Greenway Plaza Buildings Receive Prestigious 360 Performance Designation
Greenway is the only property in Houston to receive the 360 Designation which identifies properties that are managed to the “Highest Standards of Excellence”. Greenway took home 10 of 23 designations awarded nationwide.
The Building Owners and Managers Association International (BOMA) presented the 360 Performance Building Designation to all ten Greenway Plaza buildings on June 29, 2009 at the BOMA International Conference in Philadelphia. The Inaugural Program was established to validate and recognize commercial properties that demonstrate best practices in all major areas of building operations and management. The Program evaluates six major areas of building operations and management and benchmarks a building’s performance against industry standards. Greenway Plaza received 40% of the designations that were awarded throughout the country and is the only property in Houston to receive this recognition.

Crescent honored by the City of Houston
Crescent Realty Day - The high-rise fire simulation is a premier training platform that seeks to provide joint training of firefighters and building management. This cooperative process provides a progressive real-world training method that benefits both the private and public safety communities. A partnership between Crescent Real Estate and the Houston Fire Department (HFD), has resulted in the completion of twelve high-rise fire simulations, and the successful training of more than 700 firefighters. The addition of the Houston Chapter of the Houston Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) further strengthens this strategic partnership between the Houston Fire Department and the high-rise commercial building community.

Neighborhood Hero Award
High Rise Firefighter Training Program – The Houston Fire Department presented Greenway Plaza an award for partnering with HFD to provide training to cadets and other firefighters. Greenway Plaza offered its buildings as a hand-on training site to familiarize firefighters with hi-rise buildings. The program has now been adopted by several major metropolitan cities.

Crescent Named Best in Customer Service for 5th Consecutive Year
FORT WORTH, Texas (BUSINESS WIRE) - April 7, 2006 - Crescent Real Estate Equities Company (NYSE:CEI) has been awarded for the fifth consecutive year the National Commercial Real Estate Customer Service Award for Excellence for the customer service it provides its office property customers. The award has been given by CEL & Associates, the largest surveyor of customer satisfaction in the real estate industry. In addition, 69 office properties owned by Crescent’s various subsidiaries have been named to the 2005 “A List,” the National Commercial Real Estate Customer Service Award for Excellence at the property level.
The awards recognize those companies whose management performance and commitment to providing the highest level and quality of service achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction. For five years running, customers of Crescent properties ranked the Company’s customer service and management in the highest percentile of the commercial real estate industry in the U.S.

Crescent honored as HISD Partners Hall of Fame Inductee for 2005
HISD Superintendent of Schools Abelardo Saavedra, Board of Education President Dianne Johnson, and Strategic Partnerships Executive Director Gasper Mir honored Crescent Real Estate Equities for the generous contributions to schools and students by inducting them into the HISD Partners Hall of Fame in the fall of 2005. Crescent Real Estate Equities (through the FACES of Change program) tailors assistance to the particular needs of local partner elementary schools. Past projects include book drives, furnished school libraries, installed wiring for computer labs, beautified campuses, updated science labs, and volunteered for e-mentoring programs.

Bronze Award for Excellence in Landscaping
In January of 2003, Greenway Plaza and Hou-scape, Greenway’s exterior landscaping service partner, received state wide recognition for the Grand Plaza project from the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association when they were awarded the 2002 Bronze Award for Excellence in Landscaping in the category of Commercial Installation.

Fire Chief's Award of Excellence
Presented to Greenway Plaza by the Houston Fire Department for partnering with them to enhance fire-training exercises related to commercial building needs including on-site training and joint exercises to include the Greenway team members. Greenway Plaza also installed a mock-up of a commercial building fire alarm system at the Houston Fire Academy to provide hands on training to cadets that would familiarize them with the equipment found in commercial buildings.

Presented by the Engineering and Technology Council of Houston for outstanding support of local science and mathematics programs related to Greenway's installation of a fully equipped state-of-the-art science lab at Southmayd Elementary School through its FACES® of Change program.

Interiorscape Best Project
In 2002 Greenway Plaza won the “Interiorscape Best Project” award. Greenway Plaza’s interior service partner, Plant Magic along with the Director of Grounds and Maintenance Jim Langford accepted the award. Greenway Plaza was the only commercial project in the state of Texas to Win this award and one of 15 real estate projects in the entire country recognized.

CEL & Associates - Customer Service “Best in Class”
One Greenway Plaza was awarded “Best in Class” for Customer Service by CEL & Associates in 2002 and 2001. The Best in Class award is given to those properties that score 90% or higher on the service oriented questionnaire presented to each property’s customers.

Super Neighborhood Award presented to Greenway Plaza
Greenway Plaza received the Super Neighborhood award in 2001, from Houston Mayor Lee P. Brown. The award was presented in recognition of Greenway’s ongoing efforts to improve and strengthen the surrounding community.

“Turf Grass” Award - Hou-Scape
In 2000 Greenway Plaza was awarded the “Turf Grass” award for best turf landscape maintenance in large projects (10,000 sf or bigger). Greenway Plaza won this award in conjunction with Hou-Scape, Inc. This award covers the entire state of Texas and put Greenway Plaza first in its size category.

City of Houston - “Best Esplanade”
In 1991, Greenway Plaza was recognized for “Best Esplanade” in the City of Houston. The award was presented by the Houston Chamber of Commerce.
